That, of course is an old advertisement; with even older video. That was moisty a couple of years ago but it changed a lot when I went there yesterday.
And it made me mad enough to even write about it... this is the first get or not article that's about a place and not a product. And let me tell you from the start; It's not worth your money. If you're planning a long trip there, you are better going to the Albergue Olimpico in Salinas Puerto Rico (now that we are in time for the olympics, it's actually not a bad idea; wish I had it yesterday), that place is worth your money. Moisty on the other hand... isn't worth it even to sit on the chairs there and drink a bottle of water since they would just confiscate your home brought food before even buying their tickets or park your cars. So bring money... lots of it. (2 burgers and 2 Gatorade go for $14 bucks here).
Yup, here's my experience in Moisty (date 7/25/2012); we were a big group, a forty something group with part of the group arriving in their own cars and the biggest part arriving with me on a bus. We bought the tickets online, and had the printed proof with us in case something happened; the papers read "tax not included" but the page didn't say that so we had our first hiccup when we were going to ask for our tickets. We had to pay 33 bucks for the tax, before receiving our tickets; so we bought the tickets online to avoid a line; but had to stay there... for 20 minutes to pay for tax.
Why they didn't include tax on their online form puzzles me, and we didn't pay attention to that little hiccup; we were excited since we could see all the attractions from the paying zone. The Paintball park, the adventure park, go-karts, the pool with water games and we could hear the skates running up ramps on the skatepark. "Awesome.", "Can't wait" was all that you could hear in our group; everyone was excited when we finally got our little bracelets that serve as tickets.
Along with the ticket, came a little card saying we had access to 1 ride on the go-karts and access to the first level of the adventure park once. So we decided to go inside and visit those places after we've settled.
We go in everything seems fine, but then we noticed the bathrooms were kind of broken and dirty; pee smell all over the floor and the first bathroom is actually 10 feet afar from the kiddy pool...
Very old... when we went it was empty and dirty. |
After that I went over to the "wave pool"; this pool was broken... dirty... filled with hairs and probably urine. One lifeguard for over 200 people, the side decorations were broken or poorly maintained. There was even a cat... a stray cat running around the eating area... what the hell?
Oh, wait I haven't told you; you go around to find a sit; and by that area you'll see many greatly arranged sits; that's one good thing at least so you won't have a hard time finding a place to put your things. We found a place to stay, and decided to try out the food before continuing; since.. well.. they Did confiscated the food of some of our groups members and we where hungry (we had to get up at 5 am, to arrive there at 8am). Here's how you buy food there.
You do a line to see what you like, then you do another line in a whole different place; over 20 feet away to get a ticket and pay; so you can go back and get your food probably needing another line. Fun?
Well... we left our stuff in one place after buying 2 burgers and 2 Gatorade (the only thing we bought); then tried to have fun the rest of the day and let me tell you... it kept getting worse. After settling we went over to the go-karts; only to find out only 2 were working and we had to do a line for over 20 minutes to ride for 3. After that we tried the other "fun" machines and those were kind of fun, so you could go there for 10 bucks and enjoy 2 minutes of fun if you want.
After the machines, we went to the adventure park; and... it was closed for an advertisement segment.. and they didn't give back a cent; an advertisement is something scheduled... they didn't say a thing beforehand so we ended up not even trying the adventure park until way after so we went back to the pool area (when we came back I didn't even want to use it since the ropes were too old).
Since I was already frustrated, I decided to try out the skate park to see if something was different. Believe me when I say, the skate park is the only thing that's working over at Moisty. But bring your own gear... because for 5$ you get over used inline skates that stink of fungus; short scooters made for toddlers and skates with bad trucks. You do get access to all of those equipments for the whole day though, for those five bucks is the most you'll enjoy out of moisty.
When I finished faceplanting, I went over to the pool only to come out with fear of an infection; bad maintenance and administration is keeping this place in the "don't go" list. In the end we were ready to leave at 3pm (we were planning on staying until 6pm) and when we went over to the showers... they didn't work either. We had to clean up using cups and the water from the only place that had clean water; the kid's bathroom.
I'm telling you... I'm never going back until they fix all of their maintenance; oh and I won't go back on my own car either; the parking is by the paintball area so you'll just risk a window if you park there.
I give it an F- (me and many other people for the looks of their facebook page); you're better traveling a bit more and going over to the olympic place; the albergue olimpico. I would go to moisty only if they fix it... make it like it appears on the promotions again and maybe... maybe I'll give it another chance.
