I can't keep talking about it if you haven't heard it; so here you have it.
Pretty cool huh? the single made a big impression, and green day's very direct as always. I kept thinking I was listening to a mocky song but yet I was still hooked. If we do a search and find comments and stuff of people listening to the song, you'll be surprised at the reaction. I know some of you didn't really pay attention to the lyrics above, so here's the written song.
Green day Oh love lyrics:
Oh Love
Oh love
Won't you rain on me tonight
Oh life
Oh life
Please don't pass me by
Don't stop
Don't stop
Don't stop when the red lights flash
Oh ride
Free ride
Won't you take me close to you
Far away
Far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose
Far away
Far away
Waste away tonight
Tonight my heart's on the loose
Oh lights
And action
I just can't be satisfied
Oh losers
And choosers
Won't you please hold on my life
Oh hours
And hours
Like the dog years of the day
Old story
Same old story
Won't you see the light of day
Far away
Far away
Waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose
Far away
Far away
Waste away tonight
tonight my heart's on the loose
Talk myself out of feeling
Talk my way out of control
Talk myself out of falling in love
Falling in love with you
Oh Love
Oh Love
Won't your rain on me tonight
Oh ride
Free ride
Won't you take me close to you
Far away
Far away
waste away tonight
I'm wearing my heart on a noose
Far away
Far away
Waste away tonight
tonight my heart's on the loose
In a recent huffington post article, it was reported that:
...not everyone was feeling blissfully nostalgic. "'Oh Love' is signature Green Day," wrote Troy Farah of Phoenix New Times, "Trivial, drooling infatuation with just a tinge of self-destruction."
Gwen Stefani and her SoCal boys weren't faring much better. Billboard's Jason Lipshutz felt like the band was simply working too hard. "The difference between 'Settle Down' and No Doubt hits like 'Hey Baby' and 'Hella Good' is how hard the group has to work on their new cut: melodies are snipped while others are shoehorned into place, and Stefani's lyrical conversation with herself sounds more exhaustively constructed than effortless," he wrote.
I guess some of these guys have a point, GD are working too hard; and although the melodies cut short and some of the following up is practically the same music with different lyrics and a higher tone. The song made a point, that green day style is still a good style. The fans got the message. They broke my heart before, and they are actually doing something about it with this year's albums. Let's hope they stay in that line; one bad step and they'll lose more than just their fans.
But hey! at least we have 2 more albums to look after too. Oh love is just the single from their next "Uno" album; 2 more to come after that.
